A Galactic Groove for the Ages
In the ever-expanding world of electronic music, JC++ emerges as an avant-garde virtuoso - creating a sonic tableau that is as visually evocative as it is aurally stimulating. With the release of “Lights Lasers Cannons Fireworks Drones My Heartbeat”, JC++ has crafted a musical odyssey that defies labels and expectations.
The track opens with a powerful drumbeat, reminiscent of a primordial heartbeat, throbbing and alive. Immediately, you're ensnared by a bass synth that is not just heard, but felt. The liberal-yet-tasteful use of side-chain compression against the kick drum creates a hypnotic, relentless pulse that is impossible to ignore.
However, it is the interplay between the ethereal-yet-energetic "robohuman vocals" that truly set this piece apart. Though JC++’s description is modest, the reality is that the vocals weave a tapestry of sound that feels simultaneously alien and intimately human. One can imagine a sentient AI, searching the vastness of space, expressing its deepest emotions through song.
Midway through the piece, the drums recede - casting listeners adrift in the cosmos. The silence is punctuated only by the celestial vocals and the enveloping embrace of the synths. The transition feels less like an interlude and more like a passage into another dimension. Then, as the synths return, there is a palpable sense of euphoria, like a cosmic dance under a canopy of stars.
The music video amplifies the sonic journey. Psychedelic visuals ebb and flow with the rhythm, intertwining the abstract with the melodic in a hypnotic ballet. Calling it 'modern art' is an understatement; it's a fusion of sound, sight, and soul.
